Overrated vs underrated releases from artists?
Amongst the trolling (I apologize, I just found autoplay music kinda funny..you gotta admit if you did it, it'd be pretty damn funny too...) What are some releases from an artist that you find underrated and better than something you find overrated by that same artist? If that makes sense...So this is beyond a basic overrated or underrated question..
Examples:
Atmosphere: I find Overcast! to be their best and quite underrated, just as I find God Loves Ugly overrated and not as good.
Jay-Z: American Gangster, In My Lifetime 1>>The Blueprint
Rakim: 18th Letter, and all EB&R albums> Paid in Full
Kanye West: Graduation and 808s & Heartbreak>My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

I'll disagree with that one but I'll say it's definitely better than The Fix which is kinda overrated.

It's probably because of APOS concept. It's IMO pretty easily conceptually better than Oneirology and Dirty Acres (if you buy into it being a concept album, at the very least it has a thinly connecting theme). It's the complete musical growth, going from their debut album filled with mediocre at best rapping with enough cringe worthy lines that you would think they employed the same ghostwriter as Lil Wayne, to an album with a few glimpses into their full pontential once they expanded their subject matter, but still filled with immature clowning shit (SU IMO is actually probably their worse just because of how uneven it is). APOS was really their culmination of artistic growth as a group (and also featured the least Kno rapping, which fucking good). For most people it's either where they got too serious or where they stopped fucking around and starting making masterpieces. It's not my favorite of theirs and I honestly preferred their clowning on WRFF, but I can see why to so many people it's their favorite and a masterpiece.
Also, since I just wrote all that about CunninLynguists, I figure I should stay on QN5 releases and say whutduzFMstand4? > I F*cking Hate Rappers

My personal opinion:
Will Rap For Food > Southernunderground > A Piece of Strange > Oneirology
None of them are bad albums though. All 8/10+ I'd say.

I see. You are right that WRFF wasnt that lyrical album, it was funny and fresh with addictive production.
My opinion:
Will Rap For Food = Southernunderground > Dirty Acres > A Piece of Strange > Oneirology
9/10 9/10 8/10 6,5/10 5/10

They're on pretty equal standing IMO. I like the production more on Be, but I think Com was better on Resurrection.

I agree with Be being better productionwise, but lyrically its behind Resurretion, Water for Chocolate and One Day Itll Make Sence. I feel like on Be Common relied too much on Kanye plus tried to appeal to the mainstream too, its a good album nonetheless, but it doesnt get on my mp3 as many spins as Resurrection or Water for Choco
